Natascha Christina Petersen

Natascha Christina Petersen is a queer, Danish-Brazilian interdisciplinary artist currently based in London. Her practice spans from, but is not exclusive to, technology, photography, writing, installations, interactive designs and installations, new media, sculpture and moving images. Her projects often begin with scientific questions, philosophical inquiries or technological interests, where she encounters a concept or theory that intertwines with different art mediums. This can, for example, be the intersection between photography and other mediums, or when a philosophical concept can be tightly linked to the behaviours of an artistic medium. It can also be personal projects that become linked to a scientific aspect, for example, the behaviour of time, but seen from her own neurodivergent perspective. Her fascination with process theory and critical theory lays the groundwork for her practice, which makes the systems of production just as important as the final outcome.

“I find this space, where things meet and become something new or entirely different, incredible. My practice is a process-based approach that utilises the processes of various mediums in innovative contexts. I stay critical of the process and the medium in which my ideas form so that they can develop according to a process that is not defined by the final output, but rather by their process and what is needed to answer the question I am engaging with.”
